The first comprehensive coin series of the democratic Third Hellenic Republic following the abolition of the monarchy. The state title changes to "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ" (Hellenic Republic) and coins feature historical Greek personalities, ancient art motifs, and the prominent use of pure nickel for mid-tier denominations.
